Run Smart Program At Cleveland Clinic Canada

Whether you’re an elite runner or a novice runner, we can help. Our Run Smart program can optimize your running performance and help prevent injury. We treat every runner as an individual and customize the session to your personal goals and physical needs. We will work with you to perfect your running form, identify weaknesses, recommend footwear and discuss any other improvements to your running that may be appropriate.
Our program leader, Daniel Stasiuk is a trained osteopath and a certified strength and conditioning specialist with a passion for marathon running. He will conduct a comprehensive evaluation that includes strength and flexibility assessments as well as a videotaped gait analysis. Additional treatment for injuries, sports nutrition counseling or additional testing such as VO2 max or body composition, can be included for an added fee. Our experienced team of sports health providers, exercise physiologists and registered dietitians collaborate to provide specific recommendations to help you achieve your running goals.
Running SketchWhat’s included: The 60 minute program begins with a thorough clinical evaluation of your running history, current training program, previous and current injuries, anatomical structure, strength, flexibility, range of motion, and goals. To ensure customization, we ask all clients to arrive 15 minutes before their appointment to complete a running questionnaire.
After the clinical evaluation, you will move into the gait analysis component of the assessment, where our state-of-the-art video software will record you running on a treadmill. Sensory detectors will be placed on your clothing to monitor your running. Please wear fitted running shorts or pants and remove all jewelry to ensure optimal video analysis.
After the gait analysis, our osteopath will then sit down with you to review your video and discuss your strengths and weaknesses. Recommendations are based on your clinical results, gait analysis, level of training, and performance goals. They may include a treatment plan for a current injury, strengthening exercises, flexibility exercises, running technique cues, running drills, and training program modifications. Each participant will receive a tailored report that includes a detailed summary, analysis of results and customized recommendations within 2 business days of their assessment.
